Discussion Questions:

Psalm 22:1–31
  • What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
  • What does Psalm 22 reveal about the suffering that Jesus went through?
  • Most religions in the world balk at the idea of their supreme god suffering. Why is this idea a stumbling block? Why is it important for Christians?
  • Can you explain the atonement in your own words? Why is it important to understand the atonement?
  • When do you feel lonely? During the holidays? When you are tired?
  • What do I do with those lonely feelings? Take them to God? Complain? Further isolate from community? Seek out other ways to numb the feelings, like the internet, entertainment, pornagraphy?
  • The Man of sorrows lived, died and rose again that you could become a child of God, adopted in His forever family. How does the Gospel give your suffering or loneliness meaning?
  • What would change if I was confident if I knew for certain that, in Christ, I was never alone?
